Jake Delhomme To Be Texans' No. 2 Quarterback

Newly-signed Houston Texans quarterback Jake Delhomme will be active as the team's No. 2 quarterback this week, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Fifth-round quarterback T.J. Yates will make his first NFL start against the Atlanta Falcons. Kellen Clemens, signed two weeks ago, will either be inactive for a second consecutive week or the third quarterback behind Yates and Delhomme.

"Jake’s done it before," Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said Friday. "He’s played a lot of football, and he can handle himself. I can trust what he’s telling me he can do right now if we get in that situation.

"It’s just a comfort zone from a leadership standpoint and the amount of rodeos he’s been in, so we’ll go with him."

The 36-year-old Delhomme appeared in five games for the Cleveland Browns in 2010, but was not in an NFL training camp and his last game experience came in a start against the Buffalo Bills on December 12, 2010.
