Fred Taylor Will Retire On Friday
Free agent running back Fred Taylor will retire as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars on Friday, Tania Ganguli of the Florida Times-Union.
A 1998 first-round pick out of Florida, Taylor overcame some injuries early in his career to run for 11,271 yards and 66 touchdowns and catch 286 passes for 2,361 yards and eight touchdowns out of the backfield during his 11 seasons with the Jaguars. Taylor is the Jaguars' all-time leading rusher (and ranks 15th in NFL history) and is in the team's Top 5 in receptions and receiving yards.
Taylor topped 1,000 yards in a season seven times during his career, including a 1,200-yard season as a 31-year-old in 2007. Taylor went to his only Pro Bowl following that season.
Released by the Jaguars after 2008, Taylor spent the last two seasons with the New England Patriots, rushing for 424 yards and four touchdowns in 13 games.
