Report: Sidney Rice to make 2010 debut Sunday

Chicago will host Minnesota Sunday in a Week Ten game for which Vikings top receivers Percy Harvin (migraine, ankle) and Bernard Berrian  (groin) are both listed as questionable.  Harvin and Berrian are tentatively expected to be active for the game, but the Vikings have a reinforcement on the way just in case.

Citing two sources close to the situation, Jeremy Fowler of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that Vikings wide receiver Sidney Rice will play against the Bears.  Rice began the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list, missing the first nine weeks after late-August hip surgery.

Rice’s activation will become official on Saturday, when the Vikings are expected to promote him to the 53-man roster. Brad Childress’ team has kept a spot open all week, and won’t have to waive a player to clear roster space.

It’s not all smooth sailing for Rice, though.  Earlier Friday, the contract-year wideout told Tom Pelissero of 1500 ESPN Twin Cities that after practicing all week he feels “just not as fast, not as quick, don’t have that same explosion” yet.

If Rice is active at Soldier Field — and it sounds like he will be — it sounds safe to say that his impact would be minimal.

Tweeted Pelissero, “nobody’s expecting him to regain his 2009 form anytime soon.”
