Ryan Torain expected to start Monday night; Portis looks unlikely
The Redskins have plenty of offensive problems this year, but running back Ryan Torain has been among the team’s pleasant surprises.
His breakout season should continue on Monday night despite a hamstring injury. Torain has been limited in practice this week, but Mike Shanahan indicated Saturday that Torain is on track to start against the Eagles, according to Jason Reid of the Washington Post.
Clinton Portis, on the other hand, looks far less likely to suit up. Portis did more at practice Saturday and Shanahan indicated Portis would be a gametime decision. But he sounded worried about pushing Portis too much, too fast in his recovery from a groin injury.
“I’m just hesitant to put him in too quick. I don’t want to set him back,” Shanahan said.
