Vick to Sign Franchise Tender on Wednesday
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick will sign his exclusive franchise tender on Wednesday, Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Vick's franchise tender is worth a projected $15.975 million in guaranteed base salary. By using the "exclusive" tender, Vick would not have been able to negotiate with other teams.
The two sides hope to reach a new long-term agreement once a new collective bargaining agreement is in place.
After replacing an injured Kevin Kolb in a season-opening loss to the Green Bay Packers, Vick would go on to start 12 games for the 2010 Eagles, completing 62.6% of his 372 pass attempts for 3,018 yards, 21 touchdowns and 6 interceptions, resulting in a career-high 100.2 passer rating and a fourth Pro Bowl. Vick added 676 yards and a career-high 9 rushing touchdowns in leading the Eagles to an NFC East title.
Vick earned $3.75 million in base salary, and was named the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year in 2010.
With Vick franchised and headed towards a long-term deal, the Eagles are expected to entertain trade offers for Kolb.
