Texans Sign DT Shaun Cody to Two-Year Extension

The Houston Texans have re-signed defensive tackle Shaun Cody to a two-year contract, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports.

According to McClain, Cody's deal is worth $5.75 million, with $1.5 million in guarantees.

A second-round pick (37th overall) out of USC by the Detroit Lions in 2005, Cody has 150 tackles and a pair of quarterback sacks in his 83-game career. Signed to a two-year contract by the Texans in 2009, Cody has started 29 of 30 games over the last two seasons, registering 59 tackles and a share of a quarterback sack.

The Texans are converting to a 3-4 defense, and Cody (6-4, 310) is projected to play nose tackle.
