Broncos Release DLs Justin Bannan, Jamal Williams

The Denver Broncos announced the release of veteran defensive linemen Justin Bannan and Jamal Williams.

Bannan, 31, and Williams, 34, were signed to multi-year deals by the Broncos last off-season, earning $13 million combined while compiling 82 tackles and a quarterback sack.

Williams was due a $1 million roster bonus and $4 million base salary, while Bannan was set to make $4 million in total compensation ($3.5M base, $500K roster bonus) in 2011.

With the Broncos converting back to a 4-3 defense under new head coach John Fox, Bannan and Williams were expensive players who did not fit that scheme or direction the team is looking to go this season.
