Dolphins cut Eric Ghiaciuc, sign Rivera, Barbre

In addition to announcing the previously reported release of wide receiver Kevin Curtis, the Miami Dolphins also cut offensive lineman Eric Ghiaciuc and signed offensive lineman Allen Barbre and linebacker Mike Rivera.
Barbre was originally a fourth-round pick of the Green Bay Packers in the 2007 NFL draft (119th overall).
He started the first seven games at right tackle last season for the Packers and over three seasons appeared in 25 games before being placed on injured reserve on Sept. 4 and released two days later.
The versatile lineman was later signed by the Seattle Seahawks on Sept. 28 and appeared in three games prior to being released on Nov. 23.
A four-year starter at Missouri Southern State, the 6-foot-4, 305-pounder started 36 of 38 career games for the Lions and was a consensus Division II All-American first-team selection at tackle as a senior.
Rivera, who was signed off the Green Bay Packers practice squad, originally was signed as an undrafted college free agent by the Chicago Bears on April 26, 2009 and was with the team during the preseason before being released on Sept. 5, 2009.
The 6-2, 252-pounder was signed by the Tennessee Titans and spent the entire 2009 season on their practice squad, but was released on Aug. 31 this year.
A three-year starter at Kansas, Rivera appeared in 51 games with 36 starts and finished his college career with 300 tackles, including 26 for loss and 6. 1/2 sacks.
