Clinton Portis out for season

The Washington Redskins have decided to end the 2010 season of running back Clinton Portis.
Jason Reid of the Washington Post reports that the Redskins plan to place Portis on injured reserve after he aggravated his groin injury in Sunday’s game. Portis first suffered a groin tear in Week Four, and Sunday was his first game since then.
This is Portis’s second straight season ending up on injured reserve; last year a concussion ended his season.
Portis is in the final guaranteed year of his contract, and it seems safe to say that if he’s going to play in 2011, he’s going to take a significant pay cut. Portis will turn 30 before the start of the 2011 regular season, and his total output for 2009 and 2010 will consist of 13 games with 178 carries for 721 yards.
