The Redskins will be evaluating players for the rest of the regular season, but they had to evaluate x-rays of the ribs of their franchise quarterback after Sunday’s loss to the Panthers.
Mike Jones of the Washington Post reports that Robert Griffin III had x-rays taken after the game to ensure that he hadn’t broken them on a hit early in the game. He complained of soreness on his left side and the team sent him for the tests to rule out a more serious injury. The x-rays were negative and Griffin said he won’t be set back by the soreness at all.
“I’m fine. I’ll be ready to go,” Griffin said. “No one is ever going to question the fight I have inside myself to be the greatest and to help this team to victory. It doesn’t matter what it is, I will make sure that I continue to help my team win games and that it starts right after the bye.”
Given the absence of fractures and the extra time before the next Redskins game, there doesn’t seem to be much reason to think Griffin will miss any time as a result of the injury. If that proves to be incorrect, Mike Shanahan will have a chance to evaluate Kirk Cousins or Rex Grossman.
