I, Brandon Weeden, will save your team! |
With only five weeks left in the regular season every team
is eyeing the playoffs. The managers at the top are
shoring up their teams, filling in the gaps or trading bench depth for sure
starters to see them through until the end. The guys in the middle are desperate for a win, something
to separate them from the pack and keep them from the dreaded 7th
spot. As for the rest, the 3-5 and below-ers, they are desperate for a win, and
now. Because just one loss could keep them out of the playoffs and the glory
that only those vital games can bring to you.
No matter where you are in this process, transactions are
where the “hidden” wins are for the rest of the fantasy season. Waiver-wire
wonders are still out there waiting to be picked up. Trades are waiting to be made, a trade that could tip the balance between playoffs or an early start on the 2013 season.
Could Josh Freeman be the savior QB of your team? Or maybe
Brandon Weeden? Will Daryl Richardson come in and help take your injury-plagued team into the championships? How about Chris Givens the lone
survivor of the St. Louis massacre in London last week? Chris Givens is a wide receiver for those of you who don't know who he is. (I didn't!)
Even better, make a trade! Do you have three good running
backs? Trade that excess fat (Michael Turner?) from your roster and make a
move; especially, if you are in the bottom part of the league. What do you have
to lose? Put something together and make it happen. In one of my leagues a five-player trade occurred this week. Andre Johnson, Vernon Davis and DeMarco Murray were shipped off for Hakeem Nicks and Jimmy Graham. One of the teams involved was on top of the league and the other near the cellar. It was a great trade for both teams because it helped both of them improve their overall starting rosters.
Fact: The above man is Chris Givens |
All I can say is make a move, scour the free agent pools and
the rosters of your opponents. Make a move and save your season! After all, if
you are near the bottom of your league you may not have another chance after
this week.
