Giants CB Prince Amukamara Out Indefinitely With Broken Bone In Foot

The New York Giants announced that first-round cornerback Prince Amukamara is out indefinitely with a broken bone in his foot.

According to the team, the 19th overall pick out of Nebraska broke the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot. The injury will require surgery, and no official timetable for his return was disclosed.

The last of the 254 players chosen in this year's draft to come to terms on a contract, Amukamara agreeing to four-year, $8.18 million contract, which includes $7.485 million in guarantees, on Thursday before hitting the practice field on Friday.

Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said on Friday that the team planned to ease him into the on-field action, with the focus being on learning the playbook.

"I think you’ve got to give him the terminology first so that he has the understanding and there is nothing he is confused with from a verbalization standpoint," Coughlin said. "He has a lot of classroom work to make up for. You figure four hours a day in the classroom since we have been here."
