Eagles DT Mike Patterson Collapses During Practice (Update)

Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Mike Patterson collapsed and went into convulsions during this morning's practice and was taken off the field by ambulance.

Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer provided the details via Twitter:

"Mike Patterson just went into convulsions...#Eagles linemen are on their knees holding hands...Some #Eagles DL are visibly upset...#Eagles training staff is huddled around Patterson. Reid is there, too. Still no ambulance...Patterson is moving his extremities...#Eagles linemen huddle around Patterson as they move him onto a gurney...Patterson went down just after the linemen walked downfield to work on one on ones...Here comes the ambulance...Patterson was hooked up to an IV and is still being transferred to the stretcher...The rest of the #Eagles are now running down around Patterson...Patterson is now being loaded into the ambulance."

McLane added that 2011 first-round pick Danny Watkins, a former firefighter, took control and helped the medical staff tend to Patterson.

UPDATE: Patterson is alert and stable, with McLane reporting that the veteran defensive tackle was even joking with the staff at Lehigh Valley Hospital.
