Larry Fitzgerald Organizes Cardinals Workouts

Fresh off his annual off-season overseas sojourns, Arizona Cardinals Pro Bowl wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald has organized his team's informal workouts during the lockout, Kent Somers of The Arizona Republic reports.

According to Somers, twenty Cardinals players gathered at Arizona State University's practice facility on Tuesday.

"Fitz put the word out, and guys have responded," guard Rex Hadnot said. "This is what being a pro is about, when things aren't going the way they've always gone, you continue to do what you must do to put yourself in a successful situation."

Fitzgerald brought in his personal trainer, Bill Welle of Minnesota-base Velocity Sports Performance, to run and supervise the team through agility drills.

With the Cardinals, Miami Dolphins, and Atlanta Falcons getting decent turnouts for their player-organized workouts, some fans may be inclined to ask why that's not happening with their team.

Fitzgerald summed up why the Cardinals are more likely to have a higher turnout rate.

"We have a unique situation here (in Arizona)," he said. "As opposed to say Green Bay or Minnesota, where most guys are gone (in the off-season), a lot of guys who play here in Arizona stay here. It's 80 degrees in April. Where else better is there to be?"
