Houshmandzadeh Open to Returning to Ravens

Used to being one of the top two receivers on a team, T.J. Houshmandzadeh struggled with his complimentary role on the Baltimore Ravens, openly complaining about the lack of passes going his way.

With a contract expiring, Houshmandzadeh is scheduled to be potentially one of the few free agent receivers on the market, but tells Adam Schein of Sirius NFL Radio that he's open to staying with the Ravens.

“Yeah. You know what’s funny, Adam? I really, really, really enjoyed my time there. You will never hear me say anything bad about the Baltimore Ravens," said Houshmandzadeh according to Ken Murray of The Baltimore Sun. "It was an unbelievable experience for me. Obviously things didn’t go the way I would have liked. But from top to bottom, unbelievable, man, the way they treat you, the way they run things, it is unbelievable.

"The things you hear about it, about the Baltimore Ravens organization, is true. I couldn’t believe the way they treated me and just the way they treat everybody there. It’s an unbelievable experience."

Released by the Seattle Seahawks one year after signing a five-year, $40 million contract-- which included $15.5 million in guarantees, including his $7 million base salary in 2010--Houshmandzadeh signed a one-year contract with the Ravens, who were able to pay him the veteran minimum ($755,000), as the Seahawks picked up the remainder ($6.245 million) of his $7 million guarantee for 2010.

In 16 games, including 2 starts, for Baltimore, Houshmandzadeh caught 30 passes for 398 yards and 3 touchdowns. Houshmandzadeh was targeted just 57 times last season, his lowest number of targets in a full season since 2001, his first season in the NFL after the Cincinnati Bengals used a seventh-round pick on him coming out of Oregon State.
