Texans Reach Extension With TE Owen Daniels

The Houston Texans have reached agreement on an extension with tight end Owen Daniels, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network reports that Daniels has agreed to a four-year, $22 million contract.

When healthy, the 6-3, 242-pound tight end has been a preferred target of Texans quarterback Matt Schaub, catching 245 receptions for 2,972 yards and 17 touchdowns since being chosen out of Wisconsin with the 98th overall pick of the 2006 NFL Draft.

A Pro Bowler in 2008, Daniels suffered a torn ACL midway through the 2009 season. A restricted free agent last off-season, Daniels earned $3.168 million under the "First- and Third-Round" tender.

In 11 games last season, including 10 starts, Daniels caught 38 passes for 471 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
