Patriots S Brandon Meriweather Accused in Shooting

New England Patriots safety Brandon Meriweather has been accused of shooting two men outside of a house party in Apopka, Florida, Deadspin.com reports.

According to the report, a friend of Meriweather's allegedly beat up a woman at the Blue Jeans Lounge in Apopka. The woman's brother and friend, who attended the same high school as Meriweather, showed up at the club, and after the party changed locations, the woman's brother fought Meriweather's friend.

At that point, Meriweather is alleged to have pulled a gun and shot at the woman's brother, grazing his cheek and hitting that man's friend in the head.

Orange County Sheriff's are investigating the incident, and no arrests have been made.

Meriweather's alleged involvement was first reported by Miami talk radio host Dan Sileo, a former player at the University of Miami.

A first-round pick out of the "U" in 2007, Meriweather has started 40 of 64 games in his four-year career, totaling 261 tackles, 2 quarterback sacks, and 12 interceptions, earning Pro Bowl nods following the 2009 and 2010 seasons.

Meriweather has triggered a $1 million increase to his base salary in 2011, the final season of his five-year, $11.6 million contract.
