OL Damien Woody Open to New England Return

Free agent offensive lineman Damien Woody entered the NFL with the New England Patriots, who selected the former Boston College star with the 17th overall pick of the 1999 NFL Draft.

Woody started 76 games at center and guard for New England before signing with the Detroit Lions following the 2003 season. Four seasons in Detroit and three seasons at right tackle with the New York Jets later, Woody is open to a return to Foxborough, Ian Rapoport of the Boston Herald reports.

"I would consider all options, so yeah, definitely," Woody told the Rap Sheet. "I had a great time up there. I didn’t leave on any bad terms or anything like that. That would definitely be intriguing, coming back."

Scheduled to make over $3.5 million in 2011, Woody was released earlier this week by the Jets, who may look to bring the 33-year old back at a reduced salary. If not, Woody would add veteran depth at tackle and guard to the Patriots, who are losing starting right guard Stephen Neal to retirement.
