A preliminary hearing for an injunction in the NFL lockout case is set for 9:30am on April 6, Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network reports.
Judge Susan Nelson will hear the case.
The players have filed the injunction in an attempt to block the NFL from locking their players out, which occurred at midnight on Saturday, March 12. The case was original assigned to U.S. District Judge Patrick Schiltz before it was reassigned to Judge Nelson, who previously presided over Dryer v. NFL, a case involving former players who are accusing the NFL of using their images and highlight reels for marketing purposes without compensation.
Nelson was promoted in December and is no longer presiding over that case.
The players hope the case winds up in front of Judge David Doty, who has presided over matters pertaining to the collective bargaining agreement for nearly 20 years.
Doty has been a thorn in the NFL's side, routinely handing down rulings that have been favorable to the players. The NFL has tried, on more than one occasion, and failed to have Doty removed from his position overseeing the CBA.
