Nate Burleson out to prove he's worth the money

With a little help from the Detroit Lions, wide receiver Nate Burleson has answered the timeless question: Where the cash at?

Burleson also knows that his five-year, "$25 million" contract means that he's going to start. He told as teammates as much, but wants to earn his keep
"When I first met with them, I talked," Burleson told the Detroit Free Press. "I said: 'Hey, look. I just signed here. The politics of football is that I'm going to play, just because I got paid.' But my job is to come in and prove that I'm worth the money and give you guys everything that I've got."
Burleson has failed to live up to expectations as a free agent. In his first season with Seattle after signing as a restricted free agent, he caught 18 passes in 16 games. He's topped 800 yards once in the last five years and his focus was often questioned with the Seahawks, yo-yoing like his production during a wildly inconsistent career.
If that trends keeps up, Lions G.M. Martin Mayhew will have kept up one Matt Millen tradition: overpaying wide receivers.
