Seahawks to release Terrelle Pryor
The Rams’ patience may have paid off.
Per a league source, the Seahawks will release quarterback Terrelle Pryor. A 2011 third-round supplemental pick of the Raiders, Pryor will hit the waiver wire, since he doesn’t yet have four years of experience.
The Rams could very well be interested in Pryor, who has shown flashes of potential at the position. He was unable, however, to beat out Tarvaris Jackson as the backup to Russell Wilson.
Pryor appeared in 11 games with nine starts last year for the Raiders, who traded him to Seattle in the offseason.
If Pryor clears waivers, he will become a free agent.
Whether by waivers or free agency, the Rams could use a veteran presence behind Shaun Hill. The only other quarterback currently on the active roster, Austin Davis, has no NFL regular-season experience.

Raiders plan to cut Pryor on Monday if they can’t trade him
One way or another, Terrelle Pryor will no longer be an Oakland Raider by the close of business Monday.
That’s the word from Alex Marvez of FOX Sports, who reports that the Raiders will cut Pryor on Monday if they can’t trade him before then. That’s not a big surprise; it had already been clear that the Raiders have no plans for Pryor going forward, and that means it makes sense to send him packing before the start of the offseason training program.
It seems unlikely that anyone would trade for Pryor when the word is out that he’s about to be cut. Then again, he did show flashes of promise last season, and he’s only due a salary of $750,000 this year, so it’s possible that some team might think he’s worth a seventh-round pick.
Pryor is a phenomenal athlete who made some big plays last season, but those big plays were more with his feet than with his arm, and he still has a lot of work to do as a passer. If a team is willing to work with him as he develops, there’s still a chance that he’ll be a franchise quarterback. Just not in Oakland.

Pryor trade request came weeks ago
Yes, Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor has asked to be traded. No, it did not happen in response to the trade that brought Matt Schaub to Oakland from Houston.
Per a league source, the trade request came in January, when players and agents and media gathered at the Senior Bowl. At that point, Pryor had decided that the time had come to move on, based on the elevation of Matt McGloin above the 2011 third-round supplemental selection during the 2013 regular season.
To date, no serious suitors have emerged. The Jets were a possibility before the signing of Mike Vick, and the Browns could make a play for Pryor.
At some point, Pryor may face the dilemma that former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow encountered — change positions or exit the league permanently.
With the Raiders leaking the news that a trade request was made while the NFL is gathered in Orlando, the next two days could be the last-ditch effort to trade him. Thereafter, the Raiders could end up cutting Pryor.
