Report: Jay Gruden closing on deal with Redskins

If the goal was to get Jay Gruden a head coaching job by creating demand this offseason, agent Bob LaMonte’s plan appears to be working marvelously.
According to Mark Maske of the Washington Post, the Redskins “have made progress” toward a deal which would make the Bengals offensive coordinator the team’s next head coach.
The report comes with a few cautions, citing the “sensitive stage” of the negotiations, and that a deal “was within reach but not fully completed.”
Gruden interviewed Wednesday, and was supposed to talk to the Vikings today, after previously interviewing for the Titans vacancy.
He’s at least the sixth candidate to interview with the Redskins, along with Darrell Bevell, Jim Caldwell, Sean McDermott, Perry Fewell and Rich Bisaccia.
