Jones-Drew says he’s still a couple of weeks away

Last Thursday, Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew told NFL Network that he’s roughly two weeks away from returning to action with a sprained foot.
This Thursday, Jones-Drew adjusted his assessment.  Sort of.  “Hopefully I will be back in a couple of weeks,” Jones-Drew told Petros & Money of FOX Sports Radio, via SportsRadioInjuries.com.
If Jones-Drew, the 2011 rushing champ, keeps saying “two weeks” or “a couple of weeks,” there eventually won’t be many/any weeks left. But he remains confident he’ll be back this season.
“It’s definitely not going to be the year but with a foot injury you don’t want to mess around with it and come back at 70 or 80 percent,” Jones-Drew said of the injury he suffered on October 21. “It’s just one of those things that’s going to take a little bit of time but it’s doing much better.”
Meanwhile, coach Mike Mularkey apparently has abandoned his plan to fine players who talk about injuries. Then again, it wouldn’t be the first time this year Jones-Drew was in line for a fine.
