Brandon Marshall gives Bears a scare

The first padded practice of training camp could have been the last padded practice of the year for new Bears receiver Brandon Marshall.
Marshall, who has been reunited with quarterback Jay Cutler and passing-game guru Jeremy Bates, landed awkwardly during a Saturday night practice, according to Jeff Dickerson of ESPNChicago.com, prompting a collective groan from the crowd of more than 12,000.
Per Dickerson, Marshall remained on the ground for a few minutes.  Eventually, he walked off the field.  Marshall later returned to practice.
“Brandon Marshall is a scholarship player,” coach Lovie Smith said, via Dickerson. “I think we’d all agree with that.  He made some big plays.  A little scare there early on, but of course there was nothing to it.   But you always fear it whenever you see one of your best players going down like that.”
Marshall and the Bears top cornerback squared off throughout practice.
“He was going against a good football player in Charles Tillman most of the night,” Smith said.  “When you’re a good receiver and you have a good quarterback that can get the ball there, it’s just a one-on-one game.  Brandon’s going to win most of those battles.”
And the Bears are going to win plenty of games.
If Marshall can avoid the kind of injury he avoided on Saturday night.
