Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald Suffers Lung Injury; Was Spitting Up Blood On Sidelines

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald suffered a lung injury and was spitting up blood on the sidelines during Sunday's 23-20 overtime win over the Seattle Seahawks, Fitzgerald's father, Larry Fitzgerald Sr, reports.

According to Kent Somers of The Arizona Republic, Fitzgerald underwent x-rays after the game and there were not fractured ribs or punctured lungs. Fitzgerald could have a chest CT scan on Monday.

After catching one pass for one yard in the first half, Fitzgerald caught eight passes for 148 yards after the break, including three receptions for 36 yards on the Cardinals' game-winning drive in overtime. Fitzgerald had a 26-yard catch-and-run on a 3rd-and-3 play that got the team into Seahawks' territory. Six plays later, Fitzgerald made a sliding, one-handed catch to move the Cardinals inside the Seahawks' 25-yard line.

Cardinals kicker Jay Feely hit from 28 yards out to give the Cardinals the win and second place finish in the NFC West.

Despite playing with multiple quarterbacks in 2011, Fitzgerald caught 80 passes for 1,411 yards and eight touchdowns and was named to his fifth straight Pro Bowl, and sixth overall, last week.

The older Fitzgerald adds that quarterback John Skelton fainted prior to the game.
