Troy Polamalu announces he will retire as a steeler

Troy Polamalu can say with confidence now he will retire as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
That’s because the veteran safety agreed to a contract extension today that will carry through the 2014 season.
"I am happy to say that I will retire a Pittsburgh Steeler!" Polamalu wrote on his Twitter account.
The 30-year-old was the NFL Defensive Player of the Year last season. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, he will receive $36.5 million with $10.55 million guaranteed.
The Steelers don’t work on contracts during the season and Polamalu signed his deal at the airport as the team was preparing to depart for Baltimore for Sunday’s season opener. The deal follows extensions for linebacker LaMarr Woodley and Lawrence Timmons as the Steelers are investing in their own.
