Don’t rule out Raiders pursuing Garrard

Once upon a time, the Raiders would collect castoff quarterbacks like Jim Plunkett and Rich Gannon and those battered and beleaguered souls would be rejuvenated in the Silver and Black and take the Raiders to Super Bowls.

Now, the Raiders just collect castoff quarterbacks the way Lindsey Lohan collects criminal charges.

So, it’s only natural that the Raiders would have some interest in David Garrard, who was let go by the Jacksonville Jaguars on Tuesday.

Currently, Oakland has Jason Campbell, Kyle Boller and rookie Terrelle Pryor, who is suspended for the first five games of the season.

With the possible exception of the starter Campbell, Garrard would be an upgrade, which is exactly why Steve Corkran of InsideBayArea.com, believes Garrard is potentially on the Raiders’ radar.

Where Garrard will land is impossible to predict, but when it comes to retread quarterbacks, you can never rule out the Oakland Raiders.
