Jones-Drew's knee could be a lingering problem

Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew recently divulged that, in addition to playing 14 games on a torn meniscus, he experienced bone-on-bone contact in the back of his right knee toward the end of the season. PFW recently spoke to an orthopedic surgeon on the condition of anonymity who said that bone-on-bone contact occurs when the articular ligament wears down, and it is a separate and more serious condition than a torn meniscus that has in some cases shortened player's careers. Jones-Drew reportedly underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in early January, which requires a rehabilitation period of 4-6 weeks. But MJD announced this week that his recovery timetable would be four months, which suggests that a more significant procedure occurred. Jones-Drew is a very powerful runner who relies heavily on his lower body strength, and we hear he could have similar problems with this condition in the future, as there is not believed to be a permanent fix.
