Tebow expected to keep starting job

Kyle Orton told the Denver Post  after Sunday’s loss in Oakland that he expected to be ready to play this week after sitting with injured ribs against the Raiders.  Orton will likely be watching from the sidelines regardless.

After Tim Tebow’s promising first NFL start, the paper confirms that “the plan” is to start Tebow in the final two games of the season against Houston and San Diego.  Both games are to be played at Invesco Field at Mile High in Denver.  If the Broncos went back to Orton, the fans may revolt.

Tebow threw for 138 yards on 16 attempts in his debut, and led the Broncos in rushing with 78 yards.   He had a 40-yard touchdown scamper that he says came on a broken play.

It was an encouraging first start for a rookie quarterback, although the Broncos offense struggled overall.  They only put up nine first downs and 235 yards of offense in a 39-23 loss.  They couldn’t push the ball down the field.  The headlines in the Post Monday morning say it all.

One said: “For now, Tebow is a one-man Band Aid.”

Another said: “Revelation, or ho-hum proof Tim’s human.”

It’s way too early to make a choice one way or another.  It was a start.  And it looks like Tebow will get two more.
