Seahawks hope odd foot injury for WR Williams isn’t serious

The Seattle Seahawks are hopeful that a foot injury suffered by wide receiver Mike Williams isn’t as serious as they originally feared.
The team’s top target in the passing game, and one of the best comeback stories in the NFL in years, was injured on Sunday at New Orleans when he heard something pop in his foot, according to Seahawks coach Pete Carroll.
“He did something very unusual to his foot," Carroll said, according to Danny O’Neil of the Seattle Times. "It might not be as serious as we originally thought, but we're going to have to wait and see how he responds.
“He was running down the field and felt something pop. It's very unusual. They know exactly what it is. I can't explain it to you, and they've never seen it before. So it's an unusual thing that he's got. Something in the bottom of his foot."
In his remarkable comeback after missing two seasons, the 6-5, 235-pound Williams has been the most consistent target for the Seahawks. He’s made 52 receptions for 654 yards with one touchdown.
It will be interesting to see how his foot responds. The Seahawks have lost three of their last four games and need to regain some momentum in the down-and-out NFC West. They host the Kansas City Chiefs and Carolina Panthers.
