Giants sign PK Graham

The Giants signed PK Shayne Graham on Saturday after starting PK Lawrence Tynes suffered an ankle injury on Friday.

Tynes sprained his plant ankle during a kickoff in practice but walked off the field under his own power. He was added to the injury report and listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Lions.

Graham, a 10-year veteran, spent the last seven seasons with the Bengals and was 23-for-28 from field goal range in 2009.

The Giants placed rookie WR Victor Cruz (hamstring) on injured reserve to make room for Graham.

P Matt Dodge would fill in for kickoffs if Tynes can't go but would not be able to handle field goal duties. Signing Graham could mean the Giants don't expect Tynes to be ready to go come game time, and Graham provides them a veteran for field goal kicking. Cruz has been battling a hamstring injury after a great preseason for the Giants.
