The Football ERA Formula shows that the edge the Saints developed in the Season Opener was on defense primarily enhanced with an added dose of pressure from Gregg Williams' defense. New Orleans was also able to add a significant amount from their Offensive Total to their Net Total result. Even though the Vikings nearly matched the Saints Rushing Score, New Orleans' drive total was not only more numerous but the drives, themselves, were longer--allowing them to use ball control to turn a tight game to their favor. Had Garrett Huntley made all of those drives count with his kicks, the Final Score of the Game would have been greater than it turned out--as The Football ERA Formula result clearly documents.
