Carson Wentz suffers hairline fracture in ribs

Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz will miss some time with an injury suffered in the preseason opener.
The Eagles have announced that Wentz suffered a hairline fracture in his ribs on Thursday night against the Buccaneers, although the statement from the team indicates that he could be back in as little as a couple of weeks.
“Carson felt some discomfort and soreness as we began this morning’s practice,” Eagles head coach Doug Pederson said. “We decided to limit him throughout the remainder of practice and, as a precaution, sent him for a CT scan after practice. The scan revealed a hairline fracture in his ribs. We do not know an exact timetable for his return, but we hope to have him back before the end of the preseason.”
The Eagles were hoping to use the preseason to get Wentz some live game experience, something he is not expected to get much of during the regular season. With Sam Bradford slated to start and Chase Daniel backing him up, Wentz may be inactive on Sundays in the fall.
