Report: Brady likely to practice Thursday

Everyone with an interest in seeing the Patriots win games this season held their breath a little bit when word of Tom Brady’s knee injury broke, but the exhalations that started with news of a clean MRI can continue unabated.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Brady will be re-examined in the morning by doctors and that he is likely to practice on Thursday if the diagnosis remains unchanged from Wednesday.
There’s no mention of Brady’s status for Friday night’s game against the Buccaneers. The more time that Brady has to work with a new group of receivers the better, although any benefit would have to outweigh a potential aggravation of the injury. Should Brady practice with the team on Thursday, it would seem to be a pretty good signal about his availability for the second preseason game.
And it would be an excellent signal for the start of the regular season, which is far more important given the fears that briefly rolled across New England on Wednesday afternoon.
