Matt Forte: I can’t see myself missing next week
The Bears lost running back Matt Forte to an ankle injury during their 28-13 win over the Cardinals on Sunday, a dark cloud over a win that kept their playoff hopes burning brightly heading into Week 17.
Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports that Forte said after the game that he “can’t see myself missing next week” when asked about the severity of the injury. It’s the third time that Forte has been forced out of a game this season because of the ankle, something that seems to be more frustrating to Forte mentally than it is stopping him from performing physically.
“Frustrating,” Forte said. “But I just got to get healthy for next week. I would have liked to finish the game and get over 100 yards and all that stuff. This is the third time someone has felt on my ankle, so it’s aggravating.”
The Bears will also be aggravated if Forte’s prediction doesn’t come true. With Michael Bush done for the season, they’d have to rely on Armando Allen and Kahlil Bell at running back against Detroit and that would not be the optimal state of affairs for their chances of making the postseason.
