Blount had no carries against the Giants
Lost in the brouhaha over the Bucs’ handling of the home team’s victory formation on Sunday was the fact that running back LeGarrette Blount ended the game with a grand total of zero carries.
It’s a point that was made by the folks at OneBucSite.com, and it raises an interesting question regarding Blount’s role in the new regime.
Blount’s disappearance comes after rushing for more than 1,000 yards as a rookie and nearly 800 in his second season. And while he left the Week One game against the Panthers after gaining eight yards on three carries with a phantom injury that ended up being a stinger, Blount was cleared to play against the Giants.
With new starter Doug Martin getting 20 carries but gaining only 66 yards in Week Two, it’s hard not to wonder why Blount isn’t at least getting a few touches.
