Giants Plan to Release Tiki Barber

A few hours after reports surfaced that retired running back Tiki Barber filed paperwork with the National Football League that would end his four-year retirement, the New York Giants announced that Barber would be released from their "Reserve/Retired" list.

"We wish Tiki nothing but the best, and when we are able to make the transaction, we will release him from our reserve/retired list", Pat Hanlon of the Giants announced on Twitter.

Barber retired after the 2006 seasons, despite having two seasons with $4.15 million base salaries and $500,000 roster bonuses remaining on his contract.
