Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing had surgery on his right knee to repair damage to his patella tendon and had arthroscopic surgery.
"Appreciate all the support and love, had to get my patella cleaned up and knee scoped," Cushing wrote on his official Twitter accout. "Was about two years over due, time for rehab!."
Cushing recorded 76 tackles and forced one fumble in a disappointing season. He missed the first four games for a violation of the NFL's performance-enhancing drug policy.
Cushing is a former NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year and a first-round draft pick from USC.
