T.O. places blame on Bengals owner, coaches
Earlier, we posted a teaser for The T.Ocho Show based on a clip we’d been given of a visit from Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson.
Now that the show has aired, it appears that Bengals receiver Terrell Owens said something far more interesting.
Addressing the Bengals’ 10-game losing streak with teammate and co-host Chad Ochocinco, T.O. said that “you start with the owner, you start with the coaches” in assessing blame. Owens also said that the players are doing only what the coaches allow them to do.
It’s safe to say that the Bengals’ owners and coaches will allow T.O. to look elsewhere for employment in 2011.
UPDATE: In fairness to T.O., he says via Twitter that he placed blame not only on the owner and the coaches. “i put blame on every1!! i said frm the top-down!!! spin it how u want, i’m used 2 it! u guys r jerks!” The P.R. firm that sends us weekly previews of the show didn’t send this specific clip, so our item was based on an AP summary that focuses more narrowly on the blame placed on the owner and the coaches. Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer has a broader account in which Owens blames the owner, coaches, and players, but explains that “we have to go out there and play the game but in order for us to do what we’re allowed to do at the best of our ability the coaches have to put the players in the best position.” So, basically, there goes my shot at getting a Christmas card from T.O. Either way, he did place blame the owner and the coaches, and he tried to lay much of the blame on the players back on the coaches.
