Cleveland Browns running back Peyton Hillis is not practicing because of sore ribs.
Hillis, who missed one day of practice last week to rest an injured left knee, was drilled in the ribs on his second carry Sunday by Baltimore safety Ed Reed. Hillis finished with 35 yards on 12 carries. He said following Cleveland’s 20-10 loss to the Ravens that he was limited after Reed’s hit.
Browns coach Eric Mangini believes Hillis will be able to play this week against Pittsburgh.
Hillis has rushed for 1,164 yards and 11 touchdowns this season for the Browns (5-10), who have dropped three straight entering Sunday’s finale against the Steelers (11-4).
