Vince Young’s ankle could lead to a Collins-Moss reunion
Lost in the hoopla regarding the arrival of receiver Randy Moss to practice in Tennessee was the tenuous status of the guy who will be throwing those deep balls to the the Titans’ newest toy.
Quarterback Vince Young, who aggravated an ankle injury in Week Eight against the Chargers, missed practice Wednesday as he continues to recover from it.
“He’s much better, he didn’t practice today, but we’re hopeful to get him back on the field tomorrow,” coach Jeff Fisher said, per Terry McCormick of TitanInsider.com.
If Young can’t play, Moss will be catching passes from Kerry Collins, who was Randy’s quarterback in Oakland five years ago.
“It definitely helps. I feel like we have a good rapport,” Collins said, per McCormick. “There are some things that obviously we have some history of doing together. Regardless of what the terminology is, it’s the same thing. I know what he can do. I’ve seen it first hand. That’s an exciting prospect for me and I know Vince feels the same way.”
But should Vince really feel that way? This is a prime example of the way that “Randy being Randy” can destroy a team from the inside out. Once Young starts firing deep balls that miss the mark badly, how will Randy react, when “Randy is just being Randy”?
And will Randy eventually decide that Collins, not Young, should be the quarterback? If Randy does, will he keep his mouth shut, or will he make his feelings known?
If “Randy is being Randy,” we already know the answer to that question.
