The Miami Dolphins have activated defensive end Phillip Merling from the reserve/non-football injury list and placed veteran quarterback Patrick Ramsey on waivers.
Merling was placed on the reserve list on Aug. 31 due to an Achilles injury suffered while working out prior to training camp.
Merling tore his left Achilles tendon.
The former Clemson standout could provide a boost to the Dolphins' pass rush, which is already formidable with Cameron Wake at outside linebacker.
