Losing Clayton bad news for Bradford

Rams QB Sam Bradford quickly developed a nice rapport with WR Mark Clayton, but now he'll have to get used to life without his top target.

Clayton

With Clayton suffering a torn patellar tendon in his knee Sunday that will sideline him for the remainder of the season, Bradford will be forced to identify a new go-to guy in the Rams' thin receiving corps. Clayton, whom St. Louis acquired from Baltimore just before the start of the regular season, had been a very dependable option for the rookie passer, catching at least five passes for 72 yards in three of the season's first four games. And the one game where he had less (2-24 vs. Oakland in Week Two), he had two TD catches.

Bradford's play clearly slipped without Clayton on the field for most of Sunday's blowout loss to Detroit. It was the first game this season in which the No. 1 overall pick didn't throw a TD pass, and it was also his first multi-interception game since Week One. And it all came against the Lions, who have one of the league's worst secondariess.

While Bradford's fantasy value certainly will slip without Clayton, it looks like Danny Amendola will take over as the top receiver. He was targeted a shocking 19 times Sunday and caught 12 passes for 95 yards. Amendola was already an emerging PPR contributor, but he's strongly worth considering in all leagues now.
