Clipped from the Examiner.com article (The Saints were working with the Patriots today in Foxboro) The three-headed monster at running back that people were looking forward to this season for the New Orleans Saints just got short one head. Running back Lynell Hamilton went down in practice on Wednesday with what is being reported as an ACL tear in his right knee. ESPN's Adam Schefter said that is what the team suspects it to be and it could cost him his season.

Coach Sean Payton said after practice that the team would examine him to find out the true severity.

Obviously, we hate for any player to be injured. But as far as how this impacts other players, Pierre Thomas would likely get a boost. Most expected Hamilton to see some of the carries Mike Bell saw last year. It's not hard to envision a scenario where Thomas would get those carries Hamilton might have seen.

The team also has P.J. Hill and youngster Chris Ivory that have been making a bit of noise. There is also talk of bringing in a veteran like Ladell Betts. And there are other RBs in camp that are on the bubble of course that might become available. But the indication right now seems to be that Thomas should bump up the boards a little on this news.
