DeMarco Murray expected to return this week
Every indication is that Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray will be back on the field this week, and none too soon.
Asked if his best back would return for Sunday night’s game against the Eagles, owner Jerry Jones replied on his radio show: “It looks like that.”
Murray also spent part of Friday doing production meetings with the Sunday Night Football crew, something they probably wouldn’t waste time with for a guy who wasn’t playing, and something a guy who wasn’t playing likely wouldn’t bother with.
“He’s looked pretty good,” Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said of Murray, via Carlos Mendez of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “He’s been limited both days, but he’s been playing football. It’s nice to see him out there running the ball, catching the ball and doing stuff we haven’t seen him do in a while.”
Jones said that Murray coming back to practice Thursday after working Wednesday was a good sign.
“The key day was yesterday,” Jones said. “He came back from the day before. Usually, there’s a leveling off or setback day where you feel the effects. He didn’t have that.”
The Cowboys are last in the league in rushing, and have just one 100-yard game as a team since Murray injured his right foot against the Ravens on Oct. 14.

Michael Vick could miss rest of season
The Philadelphia Eagles may be getting an extended audition for quarterback Nick Foles for the remainder of the season as Michael Vick could be out the rest of the year.
According to Howard Eskin of FOX 29 TV and 94 WIP Radio in Philadelphia, Vick could miss the rest of the season for the Eagles. Eskin reported Thursday night that Vick’s symptoms aren’t improving and are, in fact, getting worse.
Vick has missed the last two games for the Eagles after suffering a concussion against the Dallas Cowboys on Nov. 11. The Eagles said Thursday that Foles was going to start again this week against the Cowboys because Vick had not reached baseline levels during his concussion testing. The Eagles had said earlier that Vick was progressing through the concussion protocol and getting closer to a return.
If Vick is unable to play the rest of the season, it will give the Eagles a chance to evaluate Foles more thoroughly. Foles could make as many as seven starts by the end of the year to give Philadelphia a strong sample size to evaluate if he could be a starter for them long-term. For the season, Foles has completed 59 of 99 passes for 542 yards, a touchdown and three interceptions in three games since taking over for Vick.

DeMarco Murray is finally back at practice
The Cowboys are running out of time to make a run at the playoffs, so it’s a good sign for them that their starting running back’s injured foot has healed enough for him to return to practice on Wednesday.
DeMarco Murray was a limited participant for the team, marking his first time back on the practice field since he hurt his foot against the Ravens on October 14. Murray’s missed six games and the Cowboys have had a hard time generating much of a rushing attack in his absence. They’ve gained 100 yards on the ground as a team just once in those six games so it’s safe to say that Murray’s return has been greatly anticipated.
Getting back to practice doesn’t guarantee he’ll play against the Eagles, of course. The Cowboys said several times that they planned to be cautious with Murray’s return to practice so you imagine that would extend to his return to games as well.
Miles Austin said earlier this week that he planned to do something at practice on Wednesday after being knocked out of last Sunday’s game with a hip injury. The team’s website reports he did light work with a trainer on the sideline while the rest of the team was going through drills.
